The promotion of sex work is not always accepted on most social networks, in a context of return to conservatism in several countries. Platforms like Instagram ban SW for ridiculous reasons. At the same time, Twitter, widely used in the field, is likely to see its policy change following its purchase by billionaire Elon Musk, close to the American right. Diversifying your content is therefore essential and there is one platform that no one can suppress: your own website. In order for people to see your content, websites, your pages, and your content must be designed with almost scientific rigor. These methods are called SEO (search engine optimization)

Some tips to create your website

This article is about SEO, but it is important to talk a little about website creation to be complete. After all, without a website, SEO has no interest. First of all, as a SW, it's important to choose a web host and domain name provider with whom you don't violate terms of service with your content. Some hosts like Infomaniak or Netlify tolerate adult content but I invite you to read their terms of use. Most of the good hosts cost between $5 and $10 per month for a simple site. You won't need to pay more.

As for the domain name, I recommend you buy it from an Icelandic or Swedish provider like 1984hosting or Orangewebsite because their privacy and free-speech laws are very solid.

A domain name is the URL address that people will have to connect to in order to visit your website. For example, to go to Google France, you would type "google.fr". This is their domain name. These domain names are purchased for a minimum of one year but I recommend that you purchase it for a longer period (5 years ideally) to signal to Google that your site is designed to last, and is therefore a reliable site. It is considered by SEO specialists that a domain name purchased in the long term will be better ranked by Google.

Once you have a domain name, you will need to choose a platform on which to build the site. The solution I recommend is WordPress.org (not to be confused with its commercial version WordPress.com). Wordpress.org is a free open source software designed by a foundation, like Wikipedia. Your content cannot be banned by WordPress. Moreover, WordPress is a very flexible platform that allows you to make quality websites without being very complicated.

<aside> ⚠️ Please, please, please, stay away from Wix. It uses a Javascript framework called Ajax and it sucks when it comes to SEO. Trying to rank with a Wix site is like trying to run a marathon with an anvil chained to your nipples. It's doable but painful and long.

WordPress is not a site on which you connect to create your site. It must be installed on your web host in order to be used. There are several tutorials on how to install WordPress. Just follow some installation videos on YouTube and everything should be fine. As you learn about WordPress, you will undoubtedly wonder what theme and extensions to install. The answer is: the less you have, the better. However, here are some recommendations.
